Submitting a Patent for Evaluation

A party may submit for evaluation any patent(s) it owns (or has right to license) that it believes in good faith to be essential to practice the UHF RFID Standards. A patent is essential if the patent is either necessarily infringed or it is a patent as to which a license is necessary as a practical matter because there are no economically viable substitutes to make, use, or sell a product in compliance with the UHF RFID Standards.

Each patent is reviewed for by an independent Patent Evaluator designated by the RFID Consortium to determine whether it is essential.
